This weekend, Times Square in New York will showcase the stunning images of actor-singer Suzy, dressed in the elegant Hanbok, Korea's traditional costume. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that a special video featuring Suzy in Hanbok will be displayed on Christmas Eve, starting from 6 a.m. until 2 a.m. the following day.

This event marks a significant step in a project that intertwines Hanbok designs with the global influence of Hallyu (the Korean Wave). Undertaken jointly by the Ministry and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF), the project began in 2020. It aims to promote the beauty of Hanbok both domestically and internationally, while expanding the reach of Hallyu.

The featured Hanboks, which will grace Times Square, were crafted by six selected small and medium-sized domestic companies, including Songhwa by Jeong, OUWR, and Tchai Kim. These companies won a contest and designed these Hanboks for Suzy, blending modern trends and sensibilities while preserving the traditional essence of the attire.

The designs will be available for viewing on the "Hanbok Wave" project's website (www.hanbokwave.com) starting December 26. Additionally, they will be showcased in various Hanbok exhibitions and fashion shows, such as the Newtro Festival in February and Hanbok Culture Week in October next year.

A pictorial video of Suzy's Hanbok will feature in the January edition of a renowned fashion magazine on December 20. From December 26, this video will also be accessible on the KCDF's official YouTube channel.
